Love, Love Me Do

The locals here have a way of making sure that the groom understands that it takes a real man to marry his bride.

The bridesmaids, known as sisters in local language, will come up with a series of tests and games that often involve courage, tastebuds and physicality. Naturally, everyone always has a good laugh about it, especially the sisters. Since one can’t afford to have the groom drenched in sweat on the Big Day, the poor groomsmen, known as brothers locally, will support their best mate, the groom, by taking his place in many of these “tests”. Indeed, it’s a test of friendship too!

A couple I know just got married yesterday. I do admire their Do-It-Yourself spirit in most things. To call upon his “brothers” for the “test”, the groom came up with something that tickled me.
