Mermaid Wedding Gowns
Happy New Year! After an exciting 2008, what has 2009 have in store for Love, Love Me Do?
Plenty. We are going to kick off a series of promotions exclusive for our loyal readers. Look out for it.
Meanwhile, I’ve been asked for advice in several wedding preparations and boy, am I honored. A friend has a penchant for mermaid gowns and she has a made-to-measure bridal package. These days, made-to-measure gowns are rising in popularity. Some studios encourage their clients to give them pictures of their desired gowns so that they can follow the design and re-create it. While it is tantamount to copying, it is an alternative especially since it is unwise to do online shopping for gowns if the One can only be found overseas. Some studios offer a made-to-measure gown at unbelievably low prices. The catch is that better materials, more intricate details or use of lace would need a top-up, i.e. more money later. So, in the search of a mermaid style gown design, I took note of the materials and the difficulty level of creating the gown.
I like Ilane’s wedding gown for its simplicity and being of chic.
Another variation by Jasmine.
Simple but classy, yeah?
If you like more elaborate ones…
This gown is by Demetrios (Princess Collection). It definitely has a modern touch to it.
Satin gowns really demand a very good figure, including a flat tummy. So watch what you eat on that day!
This gown by Alvina Valenta emphasizes the feminine and soft side of the bride. Because of the materials used including organza, silk and lace, this gown is costlier than a pure satin gown by around USD1,000.
Try the Victorian look with lace and embroidery. This gown is by Pronovias and the cost is between USD 1,500 to USD 3,000.
If you are into high drama but not keen on the usual details like lace and embroidery, this gown by Atelier Aimée is for you. I love the way this gown glams up the bride and yet does not make her look cheesy or “trying too hard to be loud”. She just captures your attention like a magnet.
Mermaid gowns can be louder by marrying the usual billowing trumpet bottom. The effect is admirable. This gown costs over US$7,000 and is created by Ines Di Santo.
And who says gowns must be white? Find it here. Play with the bottom of the mermaid gown to get fanciful, whimsical, romantic and whatever you want it to be.
Lovely, lovely!
